    Peter Fagan, Killasonna deceased about fifteen years was a noted mower also. Paddy Feeney and his brother John were noted mowers with the sythe also.
    Paddy Shierdan,Rinroe, deceased was a noted turf cutter. Cut about ten horses loads in the day.
    Paddy Reilly, Rinroe was a noted turf-cutter.
    Paddy Cusack, Granard, could jump a distance of twenty-three feet at local sports in his youth.
    Robert Packenham often ran from Edgeworthstown to Longford a distance of six Irish miles.
    Patrick Cuffe, Castlenugent was a great mower. He was able to mow an acre a day.
    Own Gavigan, Rinroe (aged 80) was a noted horseman. It is said locally that once he got into the saddle, no horse
