- Ten years ago on the 5th of November 1928 a most uncommon storm took place in the townland of Edenmore in the parish of Dromard Co. Longford.
It is worthy of notice on account of (a) the day being a fine day previously and immediately after
(b) No storm in the adjoining townlands at all. An eye-witness Mary Gray describes the storm:-
"I remember that morning in November. People were preparing for the day's work. The morning was calm. Suddenly a terrific noise was heard unlike thunder, but maddening and deafening - as if there was a flock of wild beasts flying through the air to devour prey.
