   where great knowledge he soon did gain
   His youthfull mind for the church inclined
   On heavenly subjects his thought did feast.
   So the noble youth was sent to Manynooth
   Where Dr Furlong ordained him a priest

   Where he remained for years twenty three
   and he was swelling his master dwelling
   With repented sinner at his holy knee
   On the wettest night of a soul departing
   Requiring a Clergy for him they went
   No one ere did know blessed Fr Joe did
   hesitated to go when his master sent
