- (continued from previous page)About ten yards south of this rock is the ruins of the Church rather well preserved, considering its proximity to the sea which is not more twenty yards south of it. The walls stand about eight or ten feet in height and the windows and door are still to be seen. A flagstone marks the entrance to this church. Tacumshane Church is very interesting: the ruins are very well preserved. The pre-Norman church was dedicated to Saint Fintan Munna (Taghmon): this was rebuilt or enlarged by the Normans and rededicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria. This explains the two Patterns-one on 21st October (Saint Fintan), the other November 25th (Saint Catherine). On the chancel of the ruined church - there is a very ancient tomb-stone - probably of the 14th century. It is inscribed in Latin-which in English means(continues on next page)
