- In the time of Cromwell there was a bank in the harbour that stretched from How Rock to a place called the "Flats", right against the "bar."
There were sand banks on all sides of it. There were about twenty houses on this Forth. All the inhabitants were paid by the Government and lived in Government houses. There was a school on it and a Schoolmaster by the name of O'Neill taught in it. He was a native of Ballamore.The bank was covered with green grass and only one or two tides in the year would cover it.
