  1. Cruel_Story of " '98."
This cruel story of '98 happened at a cross-road called Yole-town a short distance from Ballycogley.
A poor woman was nursing her little babe on the road-side, when the English soldiers came up, on their way to Mayglass. One of them stopped and stuck his bayonet through the mother's breast and left her to die, while he lifted the little babe held it aloft on his bayonet and carried it through the air.
"When our clergy flocked, from Vale and Knock
    Afraid their prayers to say.
Till the hand of God sent forth the rod
And cleared for them the way."
