After that he had no rest at home and he joined up in a foreign army. One day as he was marching through a village he saw an old man leaning out over a door.
Roche grabbed the old man by the long beard he wore and pulled him out over the half door. He was called to account for his conduct and the "General-in Charge" said that only he was such a brave good soldier he would be shot for doing what he did, as the bearded man was none other than the richest man in the whole country.
