- (continued from previous page)this food. When we are calling them we say "Come on" and when we want to stop them we say "Woe there" Donkeys are fed in the same way as horses.Hens are fed in something the same way as turkeys. They are fed on oats in the morning, potatoes and bran mixed at dinner time and oats again in the evening. When we set then we put thirtheen eggs under them. This is called a line. It is a custom not to set the hen unless you had that number of eggs.We feed turkeys in something the same way as hens. When they are young we give them eggs and white bread. As they get older they are fed on boiled rice or boiled yellow meal. They are fed in this way 'till they are fit for the Christmas dinner Then we sell them to a fowl buyer who comes out from Wexford to buy them. Sometimes we keep them for own Christmas or New Year's dinner.
