- The people of this district know what kind of weather is going to happen by the sun.
The sun. If the sun goes down very red in the evening we will have a fine day. If the sun comes up early in the morning it is a sign of a fine day.
The moon. If you see a circle around the moon at night it is a sign of rain.
The stars. If you see a great many stars in the sky it is a sign of frost.
The wind. If the wind comes from Derry-cooly we will have very have very heavy rain. If the wind comes from the mountains the people of this district say that we will have a storm.
The moon. If you see a circle around the moon at night we will have rain.
The rainbow. A rainbow in the morning is the shepherds warning a rainbow in the night is the shepherds delight. This expression is used by the people of this district in regard to the weather.
