- When potatoes are sowed two or three weeks they are harrowed down. There is a special sort of a harrow for this work called a saddle harrow. This work is done to kill the weeds. They are left that way for about a week and then they are moulded up. They have a moulding plough for this purpose. When the potatoes come up if there is any weeds on the drills they have to be hoed or picked with their hands. They cannot harrow the drills because they destroy the potatoes.
