  1. Festival Customs.
    On Saint Stephen's Day boys dress up with fiddle faces or masks, and colloured hats, and go to every house. They dance and play music and sing the wren song.
    "The wren, the wren, the king of all birds, Saint Stephen's Day, it was caught in the furze."
    One man gathers the money and then when the evening comes they divide the money. They then go and have a drink, or buy a fiddle to have that day twelve months, if God leaves them their health.
    On Saint Patrick's Day people wear shamrock in memory of Saint Patrick bringing the True Faith to Ireland.
    On Ash Wednesday ashes is blessed and put on the foreheads of the people.
    On Saint Kieran's Day "a pattern" to Clonmacnoise is kept each year.
    On Saint Martin's Day it is an old custom to kill a fowl so that none of our animals may die during the year
