  1. A hedge school was situated in Newtown. On the side of the road. It was about a 1/4 of a mile from the main road.
Mr. Sleeter taught in it about 80 years ago. The remains of this hedge school is still to be found. It was a mud wall cabin.
There was a hedge school situated in the town-land of Gurtravin in the ruins of an old house. The man's name who thought in it was Mr. Fallon. The pupils gave him a penny a week.
