When the scholars had assembled he banged the table loudly for silence and exclaimed "Now children, in future I want you to work hard at your books and lessons, and tell your parents I said they were to see you do this each evening. Look at the great value of learning! Only this morning Tommy Murphy, one of our best pupils is gone to be a stable boy".
