- Peter Kinsella of Ardristan townsland of Tullow Co Carlow used to make the boss spade. The tools he used were a hammer an anvil and a steel cutter. He could make sixteen in a day. The spade was noted for its good, and lasted for many years.Peter Murphy Tullow Co Carlow carried on a trade as manufacturing of Boards Plough-socks and Side-Plates. The tools he used were a Furnace a mould, sand. He did a great trade for many years. He made three Boards, three Sole Plates and two Side Plates per day and they were much better than Pierces of Wexford.
- In olden times wheh saw-mills worked by machinery were unknown, Timber was sawn on the home-farm by means of a frame-saw worked(continues on next page)
