- Francis Boylan was a basket maker who lived in Tobar about fifty years ago. He used to go out during the days gathering suitable rods. When he would go home at night he would put the rods into boiling water so that it would be easy to take the skin off them. When he would take out the rods he had only to take them in his hands and the skin would peel off easily. He would make the basket then.

- Thomas Fee of Kilduff was a basket-maker. He was a well skilled man and made baskets, creels and hampers from nice, pliable, redsally rods. Some of the rods are growing there yet. He was a great scholar and died very young as his wife and(continues on next page)
