Old Houses
Long ago the houses were built mostly of stone and mud.There was a couple of rows of stone laid down first, then the rest of the wall was made of mud. When the mud dried it was as hard as cement. Itwas a clay floor that was in them, and some times there was a bed in the corner beside the fire.
The roof was usually made of black oak found in the bogs. On top of the timber wernt tough scraws, and then the thatch, the scraws were sewn to the ribs with straw ropes.
In some houses there were very small windows and not many of those, there used to be one pane in some of them. These houses were supposed to be very warm
