- (continued from previous page)If boys interfere with bird' nests, they are told the birds will forsake them. When wild geese appear early in winter, people say we will have a stormy winter. If the swallow and cuckoo are later than usual in arriving we have a late Spring. Swallows flying high show that good weather is coming. If low, rain follows. Seagulls flying inland portent a storm.
When the curlew and peacock call loudly, rain usually follows. When wild geese call to each other they are supposed to be discussing the direction they are going in.- Collector
