    abbey was built in the 13th century and the castle must have been built about the same time. I have often heard of this castle having a dungeon but I have not heard of people done to death in it.
    Tullymongan Hill was used as a public gallows since the penal days of '98, and from then it has the name of the "Gallows Hill."
    I have often heard of a bag of gold that was found many years ago under a rock near the Gallows Hill. Nobody knows now who found this gold or who put it there. The Gallows Hill is now used for cattle fair green of Cavan.
