    In Autumn the digging season begins.
    The digging is done with a spade, and are picked of the ridges by hand.
    They are stored in pits covered with clay in the field. The potatoes grown best in the district are Kerr's Pinks, being the best for the table use, other types grown are Arran Banner, Arran Victor, and Epicures.
