    way out of the difficulty.
The day came for paying the rent, and as was customary, the farmers collected outside the agent's house. The rent was received through an open window, overlooking a garden, decked with beautiful flowers. The farmers were lined along the window when Pat arrived.
While they were paying their rent, Pat carried out his plan. Getting down on his knees, he started to tear frantically through the flowers, as if searching for something until he drew the agent's attention.
In a hoarse voice, he demanded an explanation of Casey, for his strange behaviour. Pat promptly replied: "I lost a sovereign, which I had for paying the rent, and I wont stop until I find it." The agent not wanting his flowers destroyed, excused him, and let him go with the amount he had.
