  2. Potatoes are grown in our garden every year. There is about a quarter of an acre under potatoes each year. My father prepares the ground. The potatoes are put in drills. A spade is used to make the drills. In our district small potatoes are called "Poreens" and the big ones "lumpers". Years ago people used potatoes instead of starch. The people used to grate potatoes. Then they used to squeeze the water from the potatoes and leave it to set. Then they used it as starch.
