- The kind of houses that was in this district long ago was small naudwall thatched houses with two windows. The kind of thatch the people had on the houses was withered wishes which they got in wet fields called bottom's.
In the old houses long ago the people had a bed in the kitchen called a settle bed.This settle bed was like a big long wooden box which the people used for a seat in the daytime and a bed at night. In some of the houses long ago the fire was on the center of the floor and in other's of them the fire was at the gable wall. The front of the chimneys long ago was made of clay and wattles.
There are no accounts of houses having no glass in windows
Long ago the old floors were mad of yellow clay. Hall doors are common in this district still as they were long ago.(continues on next page)- Collector
