- When you see clouds resting on the mountain in the mornings it is the sign of a wet day. A rainbow in the morning is the sign of a wet day or of broken weather. It is also said that the birds come into the houses when a snow storm is near. When a cat comes into the house and stops close to the fire it is a sign of bad weather. One of the sure signs of storm is tame geese flying against the wind. When the dust begins to fly off the roads rain is near hand. If the smoke goes up straight out of the chimney it is a sign of good weather. When you see a blue blaze in the fire, it is a sign of storm.
- When you see soot falling from the chimney there is going to be rain. When the sun goes down red it is a sign of good weather. If the sky is cloudy while the sun is going down it is a sign of bad weather. When you see a rainbow there is a going to be rain.
