    the forge is the old road and over by the post is the bog road.
    The name Carmaddyduff is explained in two ways.
    (1) It is said it takes its name from a bridge of oak sticks which led the way from Garryross into the townland, across the river at Christy Keogan's hence Corr na Maide buidhe (2) Some say it takes its name from the appearance of a black dóg on the road at the School - Corr an Madadh Duibh
