    2. On Christmas Day it was a custom of olden times to give a few sheaves of oats to the cows. This is supposed to bring luck to the people during the year.

  2. Carn Hill is situated in the centre of the townland of Carn and about half a mile from the town of Ballyjamesduff. It is about feet high. The side that is facing the north has large beech trees growing on it and on the other sides are firs. On the tip - top of the hill there are flat stones with letters
