    but the Rebellion of 1916 and Cromwell's War. Cromwell's father was supposed to have been a shoemaker at one time, and it is certain that Cromwell himself passed through here because while setting potatoes Mr. Thomas Moore Claudia, found a great number of cannon balls down in the soil. Cromwell's father was a shoemaker, but Oliver Cromwell himself was never said to have been a shoemaker. He was Commander of the British Army then he ruled England as Lord Protector He died of a disease called the Carran Ague.
    During the 1916 and 1922 rebellion Ballyjamesduff was in a terrible state. The whole town was going to be blown up one day by the Black-and-Tans only that the lorry carrying the ammunition
