    would rap at the door and they would answer. "Open the door and let St. Brigid in". She would go in and sit at the table, and they would all have a feast on the rice.
    Then they made the crosses. Each took a bunch of straw to make his own. First they got two sticks and tied them together in the shape of a heart. Secondly they wound the straw round the sticks covering the sticks. The crosses were then blessed and put over the doors of the houses.
