Mullagh and the district around it belonged to a family called "Sanderson" long ago.

Mullagh and the district around it belonged to a family called "Sanderson" long ago. The last of them was Col. Sanderson. He was a very good landlord in his time. He evicted very few people out of their houses. It is about thirty years ago since his estate was sold to the tenants. He was landlord over the village of Mullagh and Mullaghland. He lived about a mile outside the town of Cavan. The tenants always liked him because he was a reasonable and good landlord.
