On the north-eastern shoulder of the hill, there are the remains of an old fort but no one seems to know anything at all of the origin of this fort.
The hill rises beautifully over the pretty lake of Mullagh and is one of the beauty spots of County Cavan. - In the early pages of this folklore book, we mentioned that the O'Reillys - princes of Breffney - had a castle on the lake shore.
That castle was knocked by Cromwell's guns. Cromwell is said to have ravaged all the district around Mullagh.
