“My father was returning home from Kells about midnight.”
My father was returning home from Kells about midnight. He had with him his mare and cart. He was walking along-side the mare. The night was very calm and all of a sudden he heard a whirl wind.
The mare took fright and ran away. He ran after the mare for about a mile. Then, all of a sudden he heard strange voices and felt very much afraid and he could not go any further. He looked in the direction from which the voices came and saw a crowd of men all dressed in grey standing along the wall of Dearway Graveyard with a coffin on the wall. A voice spoke from the crowd, saying "Pass on and have o fear."(continues on next page)- Collector
