- About sixty years ago Mr Philip Clarke Granaquinia was churning in a garden at the back of the house with a churning machine. In this churning machine he had a fine bay mare. A certain man who was reputed to have an "evil eye" came up the road and stood looking into the garden. Soon he went up the road. When he was gone some distance the mare began to shake and shiver and perspiration rolled off her and suddenly she collapsed. Then the neighbours gathered and many remedies were tried but to no avail. Somebody then suggested that maby the mare was "overlooked" and a messenger was sent to an old woman in Derryham who had the cure. No sooner had(continues on next page)
