There was a man one time who was going to be hanged...

    (continued from previous page)
going to be hanged went out of the place where he was, and in to an old outhouse. He saw the skeleton of a horses head. There was a birds nest in the horse's head and eight young birds and an old bird in the nest. He made up a riddle about the birds nest. He went in to the house where he was at first and the riddle he asked them was, "As I walked out I then walked in Death I spied and life within. Eight spoke out and one got free. Riddle me that and it's hung I will be. They could not answer the riddle and the man got free.
