He keeps a fire in the forge for to redden the iron so that he can bent it in any direction he want it. He burns chaff in the fire. It throws off a great heat while it lasts.
There are not many blacksmiths in his district nowadays. Long ago the blacksmith were very plentiful in every part of the country especially near crossroads. A number of people used to go to the cross in which the blacksmith were telling stories and singing songs(continues on next page)- Collector
