  1. (continued from previous page)
    Comprising fair Shamrock so green.
The raiment she wore, it was lovely,
Her face it was blooming and fair,
She was virtuous, majestic and comely,
The thoughts of her mind were sincere,
She was fairer than Heby or Pandora,
Of Flora, the fair, flowery Queen,
    She blushed refulgent Aurora,
    Composing fair Shamrock so green.
Dejected in grief she stood wailing
I listened a while to her song,
Her words, they were true and prevailing,
She complained of a merciless throng.
    Said Luther was the instigation.
    Of Hatred, malignance and spleen,
    Since that reprobate, vile Reformation.
    Degraded the Shamrock so green.
    My ill-fated Country I mourn,
I feel for her wrongs and her woes,
    With wrath I unceasantly bourne,
When I view the triumph of her foes,
Justice" Oh why dost thow slumber.
