An Old Song
“Being on a Monday morning an hour before the day”
I
Being on a Monday morning an hour before the day,
Our ship she sprang a cable as we were bound for sea.
The wind it blew from Nor-west for England we were bound
The hills and dales were varnished with lovely maids around.
There was a wealthy young man lived in his bloom of years,
He came to his beloved to let her understand
That he was going to leave her and sail for a foreign land.
