    Being on a Monday morning an hour before the day

    Being on a Monday morning an hour before the day,
    Our ship she sprang a cable as we were bound for sea.
    The wind it blew from Nor-west for England we were bound
    The hills and dales were varnished with lovely maids around.
    There was a wealthy young man lived in his bloom of years,
    He came to his beloved to let her understand
    That he was going to leave her and sail for a foreign land.
