  1. One day a man was going for sand. He wanted to get two loads home before night and he had to go ten miles away. He got up at five o'clock in the morning. When he was gone halfways the wheel came off the cart and he didn't know what to do. He looked round and saw a man kneeling on the ground. He asked him to help him put on the wheel. The other man said he was doing his penance, and he didn't help him when he was saying his prayers. The first man said three "Hail Marys" and said he would get a mass said for
