    loaf, or some tea and sugar. All these gifts were deposited on a table in the room, a dance was held and the festivities in general were almost on a par with those that obtained on the night of the wedding
    Singing at wakes was a popular custom in Bailieboro district for many years. Many of the singers were really good and their singing of traditional Irish and Anglo Irish was a virtual treat. In those days the singers were usually treated to a glass or two of whiskey.
