    Of these men John Smith of Drumcalpin
    Mountain Lodge
    Cootehill
    Co Cavan was the best known.
    This man was of medium size and stoutly built.
    He was a well known runner both in local and county events and he also went to Scotland to run.
    His principal races were in half mile, mile, and two mile events.
    He competed in racing events both in Cavan, Baileborough
