   Tievenanass and Brady is the most common family name in Carrickallen.
   In Tievenanass there are nine two storied slated houses and eight thatched houses.

   The townland of Tievenanass got its name from the number of water falls that flow down the southern and western side of the hill.
   Carrickallen got its name from a rock beside Carrickallen School.
