    The strain was too much for her to bear. She left the district soon afterwards and it was said that sh ended her days in the lunatic asylum.
    In the Summer of '47 the government help reached this district. Works were set up but the men were too weak to work. Later on Indian meal was cooked in a large boiler at Leslie's of Corravahan. The starving people could be seen each day making their way to Leslie's to get as much of the ''Brachan'' or porridge as would keep body and soul together.
    Many, however were so proud that they starved in their homes, and would accept no alms from anyone
