  1. Bread in olden times.
    In olden times the people grew their own wheat, and corn and then make their own bread. the bread eaten oftenest was oaten bread and potato cake.
    This oat bread was made by wetting the meal with water and pressing it firmly together. Then it is put on the bread iron and baked till it is quite hard.
    The potato cake is made from boiled potatoes The potatoes are peeled (and mixed) and mixed with flour. It is then rolled and made into the shape of a cake. It is then cut into four parts and each part is called a farrel.
