    Fairy forts are very numerous in this district.

    Fairy forts are very numerous in this district They are called 'forts.' One is situated in Killenenaugh, another in Enaugh, two in Corrinshigo, one in Lisarney, one in Lisnageen and another in
    They are situated on the tops of hills with view of each other
    They are circular in shape and there is a deep trench surrounding forts e g in Lisarney, Lisnageer etc. There is no hole but there are two pathways up the sides of the fort - opposite each other or so. The trench in some cases is over ten feet deep. Trees and bushes grow on their edges but there is only a small ditch around them.
    Some people say that these forts were fortified places built by the Danes and were a kind of castle from which to defend themselves. The fairies are supposed to dwell in Killinenaugh fort Murie was heard from his fort and long ago the people were supposed to have danced to the sound of this music when passing at night.
    The owner interfered with fort in Lisnegeer and wished to level it. That night the gable of his barn was knocked and it fell.
