In the townland of Knockerra there lived a man by the name of Pat Moloney who had a famous black horse. One night Pat Troy was paying a visit to Pat Moloney that the horse would be gone out of the cabin in the mornings.
When Pat Moloney went into the cabin next morning the horse could not be got. He went to his neighbour to look for the horse with him. The two of them went off looking for him, the two of them had nearly travelled West Clare and could not find him.
They both came home very sorrowful when they could not find him, their tea was ready for them when they returned. They were drinking it and the horse appeared in the haggard in front of the house and she was covered with dirt, at first they did not know him. They put him into the cabin and cleaned him and brushed him and fed him and they were glad to have him back.- Collector
