Down in Vandeleur's wood there is a well dedicated to St. Senan and it is particularly noted for a cure for sore eyes. Colonel Vandeleur was a very big gentleman that owned half the country round. Being a protestant did not believe in the blessed well. When he heard the people saying there were cures performed he ordered his men to close up the well. Immediately the well was closed it sprung up at the other side and they failed to close it.
About a dozen years ago five men of this parish were cured. One had sore eyes and after nine visits was cured. The second man had almost completely lost his sight and after a number of visits was cured also.
