Ballyconnell - Ballyconnell
Ballyconnell got its name from Conall Cearnach. He lived in Church Street where the church is now. There was a battle fought there and Conall was killed. He was buried on a small Island beside the Woodford River. He had a brother who wanted revenge for this deed, so he went to war with the men of Leitrim, but he was killed in Ballyheady. He was buried there. His burial place is known as the cairn of stones.
