    river she began to cry aloud. A man who lived near heard the cries and he came down to see what was the matter. When he saw the child in the river he got a boat and went out and brought him in. Little Gerry was dead. They brought him home and put him lying on the floor and sent for the guards. The sergeant and one of the other guards went out. When the sergeant saw the little boy, he wept.
