    Long ago they used also have Tug-of-War, weight throwing. Egg-and-spoon races, Jumping, Bag races and Skittles. Hand-ball has always been played in this district. There is a fine ball-alley down at the Military Barracks and the boys go down there on fine Sundays to play. When the soldiers were in the Barracks some years ago they used to come out and watch the boys playing and the officers used to give prizes to the winners.
