- I live in the townland of Ballinlough, in the parish of Annagh and barony of Lower Loughtee. There are six families in the townland and the approximate number of people is twenty-five. The names of the people are Mac Elgunn, Callaghan, Leachem, Donoghue, Cunry and McCabe. All the people are Roman Catholic. There are no old people in the district.
There are four house slated and two thatched. Three of the houses are new and the other three are old. The land is fertile and mostly hilly. The farmers cultivate wheat, oats, potatoes, onions, parsnips, turnips and mangold and cabbage. Some of them have flower and fruits. They rear pigs, cattle and fowl and each of them has a horse and cart.
The townland got its name "Ballinlough" from a large that is in it. A stream called the "mearing drain" flows through the district into the river Erne. There is a large bog in the townland.
