    is 200. The family name most common is Flynn. There are about fifty families in Ballyfarnon. Five of the houses are three storieys.
    The town got its name from the alder trees that grow round it. There is a little wood outside the town called the Cuileen. Lough Skian is the lake nearest to it. It is so called because it is shaped like a knife. There is a little stream which supplies two wells with water. These wells are called St. Bridget's.
