Barrack St:- One of the old town gates of Nenagh was placed next to the Market House over the open Clareen River which divides the Upper and Lower Ormond. Directly opposite the old Church Yard at the corner of Stafford Street a cavalry Barracks was situated in the 18th. century. Hence the name Barrack St.
Spout Road:- Spout Rd. dates back as far as 150 years ago. The lower portion of Dublin or Spout Road or, roughly, that portion between the Spout and entrance to Summerville was formerly known as Newtown Laerence, this name is derived from a family named Lawerence was owner of Riverston at one time and resided there during the 18th. century.
Kilkeary:- Kilkeary got its name from a St. named Cera who was living there. She erected a convent and since then it is called Cillcheire or, the Church of Cera. The ruins of the convent are still to be seen but not very much.
